DEARBORN, MI- United Auto Workers employees with Ford Motor Co. will receive record profit-sharing checks as part of the automaker's $8.8 billion profit last year in North America.
Approximately 47,000 eligible U.S. hourly employees will receive average payments of approximately $8,800 each on March 13. Individual profit sharing payments may be higher or lower based on employee compensated hours, according to officials.

WASHINGTON — The nation’s union membership held steady at 11.3 percent last year, but losses among state and government workers suggest an ominous trend for the future of organized labor.
In a turnabout, there are now slightly more union members working for private firms than in government, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday. That reverses a five-year trend.
UAW Local 1268 had a busy fall that resulted in a sizeable donation for the United Way of Rock River Valley.
A total of $48,431.85 was raised by Chrysler employees and UAW members during the annual United Way Pledge Campaign in October and November of last year. Special events like a Dodge Dart raffle, 50/50 raffles, and other prize drawings all helped to raise the funds.
A check was presented to the United Way during a ceremony Monday.
